Job Description

Melissa is hiring for a Sales Engineer I / Jr Programmer for our Rancho Santa Margarita, CA HQ location.

As a Sales Engineer I, you are a programmer with acute problem solving skills and great communications. You will need to have multi-tasking capability, be a self-starter/ quick learner (there will be a training period), and a willingness to learn different technologies and concepts. You will be working within the product management group at Melissa Global Intelligence to develop new tools as well as demonstrate products on sales and discovery calls. Compensations are commensurate with personal contributions to the team’s overall performance

The successful candidate will be trained to perform the following tasks:

Sales Engineering Responsibilities:
• Present technical presentations of our APIs to demonstrate core value on discovery calls
• Provide time sensitive deliverables or proof of concepts to win new accounts with our Sales team.
• Provide API software support for our customers and DevOps to ensure bug fixes/updates are released appropriately
• Work with Marketing team to produce articles for new features or developments
• Analyze and process client provided data sets and provide detailed reporting
• Design, develop and maintain internal automation scripts for clients or internal use
• Design, develop and maintain test cases, smoke testing, regression testing and refactoring
• Writing technical specifications in confluence
• Assist QA in product testing


Minimum Requirements:
• Excellent written/verbal communication and problem solving skills
• Experience with at least one object oriented programming language
• Strong knowledge of Software Development foundations
• Excellent presentation skills and the ability to write detailed and organized written reports or documentation
• Ability to travel to trade shows and conventions (Domestic and International)
• Good eye for attention to details and a willingness to learn new skills
• Ability to sit or stand in a stationary position for long periods of time while working with a computer and keyboard
• Bachelor’s degree (B.S or B.A) or 2-4 years’ experience in software development

Bonus qualifications:
• Proficiency with object oriented programming language such as Java, Python (Preferred), C#, C++
• Knowledge of a database language
• Knowledge of RESTful services
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages
• Knowledge of Smoke tests, regression testing
• Prior experience with Linux, bash scripting, PowerShell
• Prior experience versioning control system
• Prior experience with software technical support, customer service or software development
• Prior experience with ETL tools
