Job Description


Must be ABMG Board Certified
MD Degree
Prefer Cancer Genetics and Oncology Background
Prior experience working directly with patients, seeing an average of 12 patients a day.
Relocation assistance available.


Work closely with other members of the Division of Clinical Genetics (certified genetic counselors, genetic risk educator, patient scheduler, and administrative staff) to create a cohesive, effective, and productive clinical service worthy of a destination cancer center.
Bring a medical perspective to the fundamental mission of the Company, which is to provide pre-test genetic counseling relevant to inherited cancer risk, provide guidance as to the rationale, or lack thereof, for ordering a specific genetic test or panel test, and provide post-test counseling relevant to potential genetic risk and appropriate interventions to effect primary and/or secondary prevention of cancers.
Work with staff to develop a practice model that utilizes the medical geneticist to the fullest extent possible to interact with patients and family members, expanding upon and enhancing the information provided by Certified Genetic Counselors and genetic risk educator, especially with regard to medical follow up and intervention related to cancer risk reduction.
Optimize patient/family encounters in order to increase professional fee reimbursement from third-party payors, thereby offsetting to the greatest extent possible operational expenses of the Company.
Exert a leadership role with respect to continuing education of the clinical team in a very rapidly evolving field, with a special emphasis on the cancer clinical genetics literature and the relative merits of one or another clinical test that may become available.
Engage the various Tumor Site Teams, as appropriate, in a proactive fashion in order to provide continuing education and promote referrals to the Division of Clinical Genetics where appropriate.
Attend Tumor Board meetings as appropriate, e.g., Breast, Gyn/GU, GI, and the Molecular Tumor Board.
Promote and maintain visibility of the institute at relevant national meetings and venues.
Pursue academic activities where available, e.g., research projects, contributions to the literature, collaboration with colleagues at other academic cancer centers.
Work closely with Director and leadership from other functional units to further the overarching mission of the company through, for example, collaboration, marketing, and philanthropic solicitation.
