Job Description
Tumor CytoGenomics Assistant/Associate Director:
Our Client is seeking a Clinical Cancer CytoGenomic expert for the position of Assistant/Associate Director.
The Tumor Cytogenomics Assistant/Associate Director will share responsibilities for this essential laboratory dedicated to the detection of acquired chromosomal abnormalities associated with hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
The outstanding faculty candidate must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. and preferably is Board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Cytogenetics. The ideal scholarly candidate will have at least three to five years of experience. The ideal candidate is also a highly organized and self-directed individual, who works well in a complex and dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will share sign-out responsibilities with the Director (using soft cytogenetics electronic system), assist in laboratory management and new test development based on medical/scientific advances, as well as teach residents, fellows, and graduate students. Specific responsibilities will include daily review of cases, karyotype, FISH and CGH array interpretation, report writing for all sample types (blood, bone marrow, fresh and paraffin embedded tissues), and communication and prompt follow-up with referring physicians. The candidate will have the ability to conduct a research program, or collaborate with basic and clinical researchers throughout all Laboratories. Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The candidate must have documented experience of Client molecular assay development, SOP preparation, and assay validation experience for licensure of laboratory-developed tests for clinical laboratory implementation. A COQ for New York State in relevant categories is a plus. In addition, the candidate must have excellent communication skills (verbal and writing), be highly organized and timeline-driven, and be a strong team member
