Job Description

Our client, a growing global pharmaceutical company, is currently seeking qualified candidates for full-time positions in their Medical Affairs department for their South Central region. The successful candidates will have a Doctorate degree (MD, OD, PharmD, PhD,) with 2 - 8 years of experience required as an MSL in the pharmaceutical industry. Experience in Ophthalmology is required.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) will be responsible for engaging and developing relationships with national and regional Medical Experts (MEs) within their geography. The MEs of focus will be those in the field of Ophthalmology with an emphasis on those with a specialty of Glaucoma/Retina. MSLs will be involved in fair balanced clinical and medical information exchange on a peer-to-peer basis with MEs; to bring valuable via scientific discussions, support the company's scientific platform with products in different phases of lifecycle and relay field based clinical input back to corporate to impact the future strategy so the company can continue to bring innovative products to physicians and patients to meet their ophthalmic treatment needs.

Primary Responsibilities
• Connect and develop relationships with Medical Experts and Thought Leaders at Academic and Centers of Excellence, through exchange of latest emerging and relevant scientific information
• Strategic involvement in the development and execution of Medical Affairs Plans to support the disease state education/pre-launch, launch, commercialization and lifecycle management of products through scientific discussion
• Serve as a liaison to Medical Experts to link their interests and strengths, with activities that are collaborative and align with the company's Medical and Company Strategies
• Speaker training, follow up, and maintenance
• Phase 3b/4 research trial site and investigator initiated research proposal facilitation, cultivation and support as appropriate
• Scientific support at key regional and national congresses, involvement in related professional organizations and advisory boards as needed
• Competitive intelligence gathering, assimilation and incorporation into future strategy and plans
• Responding to unsolicited requests for information that may be disease state related, off label, or inquiries that require a deeper scientific personal communication
• Managed care support via presentation and/or relationship development with managed care clinical experts
• Collaborate with internal business partners such as Clinical and Commercial within compliance, to meet scientific and technical needs of company and colleagues e.g. training
• Adherence to SOP and FDA guidance for distribution of scientific information and in conducting themselves in all aspects of the role
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of interactions in designated manner and administrative reports e.g. expense, status

Education & Experience
• Doctorate Degree (e.g. PharmD, MD, OD, PhD)
• 2 yrs – 8 yrs experience as an MSL in the pharmaceutical industry
• Experience in Ophthalmology desired, but not required

• Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills
• Understanding of basic clinical research and statistics, ability to critically evaluate medical literature
• Firm background in scientific methodology, general pharmacology and therapeutics
• Computer literacy and ability to learn software and programs needed
• Stellar interpersonal skills, customer focus and emotional intelligence
• Thrives in a team environment
• Proven self-starter that is solution focused when presented with challenges
• Ability to manage a demanding schedule, and adapt and be flexible as needed with evolving priorities

• Ability to travel overnight, the MSL job is approximately 60% travel
• Must have valid US Driver’s License and ability to drive extended time
