Job Description

The Vice President Clinical Operations will develop and manage the Clinical Operations teams in collaboration with the EVP and GM, of our client's early Phase facility. Provides senior-level leadership and direction for all strategy development, operational planning, and delivery of clinical research trials. Ensures that deliverables are met with high quality and consistent with sponsor contractual agreements. Standardizes and harmonizes divisional processes to ensure consistency and improved efficiency. Responsible and accountable for the effective management of the operational, financial, and staff development activities of the Clinic.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for delivery of end-to-end clinical trial management for Phase I clinical trials both operationally and financially.
• Drives authorized plans and initiatives for the division ensuring they are properly implemented, and that Executive Leadership is informed of the overall trends and conditions of important activities that impact profitability, market position or stature in the industry.
• Provides outstanding customer relationship skills and brings a sense of urgency to sponsor initiatives and projects.
• Provide senior-level oversight for all deliverables for assigned projects, including implementation, quality, timelines, resource management, budget, and internal/external customer communications. Ensures all projects are managed and delivered in accordance with contractual agreements, agreed to Standard Operating Procedures, and in compliance with all industry/regulatory guidelines.
• Provide direct leadership to Clinic Operations, Participant Recruiting, Medical Writing, Central Lab, and Pharmacy
• Develop and authorize specific performance standards to ensure key results in utilization, staff development, operating efficiency, innovation, physical and financial resources, public responsibility, and profitability for the Early Phase Clinic.
• Develop, review and maintain SOPs and best practice guidelines pertaining to activities of the Clinic. Identifies and makes recommendations of required technological and process improvements to increase quality and efficiency.
• Review and input to budgets, assist with proposals and provide department representation at business development meetings
• Develop and drive the departmental budget processes, working with the internal finance department to ensure accuracy to forecast
• Assume responsibility for the financial performance (P & L) of the Clinic including revenue growth, clinic margin performance, and cost control initiatives.
• Responsible for working with the EVP and GM, Early Phase to establish the mission, vision and develop a comprehensive strategy, and develop and enforce a process that scales across deliverables (i.e. general capability presentations, proposals, bid defenses, stand-a-lone feasibility assessments, etc.…) and is tailored to customer (internal and external) needs.
• Develop and lead the implementation of short-term and long-term objectives, major plans and programs through integrated strategies with functional service customers. Assist in the identification of new data sources, the development of new analytical approaches, and/or the development of new tools to support the clinical research process.
• Drive change transformation and strategy execution to achieve business results
• Create scalable business solutions; find innovative solutions to expand revenue growth while minimizing increases in operational costs.
• Provide adequate staffing and scheduling management to minimize labor cost and maximize quality outcomes.

• Ability to work at a fast pace with short timelines and minimal oversight.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 10+ years’ experience in clinical research
• Background in medicine, science or other relevant disciplines with experience in clinical drug development across a broad range of therapeutic areas
• A track record of successful management of clinical operations staff and managing teams with proven responsibility for delivery to timelines.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably in the field of Life Sciences or Health)
• In-depth knowledge of the clinical research process, including Good Clinical Practices and ICH guidelines
• Ability to make good, sound decisions under stress and with time restraints
• Ability to forecast potential problems in multiple departments
