Job Description

Our client, a nationally acclaimed interdisciplinary research center in Mississippi is strategically adding a long-term, career-oriented UI - UX Design professional. A niche player with a highly skilled team of researchers, data scientists and software professionals delivering the best-of-class data, software applications and tools specific to the social sciences space (healthcare, workforce, education, demographics, addiction, discrimination, etc.) used by local, state and federal agencies and gaining traction internationally.

A newer, $40MIL office environment awaits you offering the latest technologies. A local, onsite multi-national workforce (majority holding graduate degrees). Title: UI - UX Designer 

The successful candidate will work as part of an active research team and be responsible for the evaluation and design of the user experience of complex applications and systems. You will Assume lead role for the evaluation and design of the user experience for both small and major applications. Coordinate activities and provide technical assistance to development group team members. Maintain a familiarity with the latest developments in information technology and design aesthetics and make recommendations as appropriate. Evaluate and establish priorities to meet desired goals. Work independently under overall project objectives and requirements. Collaborate with clients and development team members to conceptualize strategies for application features. Design, code, and test application software, as well as modify existing software to reflect changes in user experience

Location: Mississippi (~2 hours from Memphis, Jackson, Birmingham)

Experience Profile:
BS degree plus proven breadth and depth designing customer facing User Experience – User Interface solutions.
5+ years of experience in the design/development of web-based database-driven applications.
Proficiency in server-side scripting languages (PHP and JSP), client-side scripting languages (JavaScript and AJAX) and proficiency with markup and styling languages (XHTML and CSS3 including HTML5 and CSS3 standards).
Demonstrated experience creating wireframes and functional prototypes including proficiency with prototyping applications (Adobe Fireworks, Balsamiq Mockups) and demonstrated experience creating diagrams and visualizations of system domains, processes, and concepts including proficiency with visualization applications (Visio, LucidCharts, Illustrator).
Demonstrated experience creating visual design mockups of web-based application interfaces, and websites.
Ability to translate visual design mockups into production-ready images and markup.
A stable record of employment.
Highly desirable: 
PhD/MS. JIRA. Confluence. Agile. Scrum. Java Stack. MVC. Spring. Angular. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Experience working closely with the software architect and programmers of an Agile development team, gathering and assessing user requirements.
Excellent communication skills with experience representing the user in the design/development process.
Proficiency with visual communication tools such as PowerPoint. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, FireWorks, InDesign).
