Job Description

MAJOR PURPOSE:
The Art intern will gain experience working with people with mental illness and in recovery for substance abuse. We believe that people need to experience the social and emotional rewards that were negated by drug addiction and drug culture. They need to work together with friends, connect with family, and find activities they truly value. In the Odyssey House Art Program, our mission is to provide that companionship and trust, and through the creation of artwork, instill confidence and pride.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist in organizing groups and schedules
2. Assist with running daily groups providing instruction, supervision and encouragement to participants
3. Working one-on-one with clients who need extra support
4. Participating in group trips to museums and cultural events
5. Assist with design and production of posters, flyers and other printed materials for Odyssey House projects, events and presentations
6. Photographing at events and documenting clients and their works in progress

REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Strong experience with different Art styles and techniques
2. Strong communications (both written, verbal), organizational, and problem solving skills
3. Strong interpersonal skills, including presentation and listening skills
4. Must be able to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment
5. A team player who can also work independently
6. Undergraduate student preferred
