Job Description

JOB TITLE:                  Technical Support Specialist
REPORTS TO:             Director, IT & Business Operations
FLSA STATUS:            Non-Exempt
JOB OVERVIEW:         The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for installations and modifications to the Company’s computer hardware and software systems; making repairs as needed. This position will also provide technical advice and support to system users. All duties and responsibilities must be performed in compliance with the Company’s established policies and procedures.
• Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
• Set up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cable, operating systems, and appropriate software.
• Maintain record of user interactions and technical support issues via Help Desk ticketing system.
• Conduct research and diagnostics, research problems and confer with users to investigate and resolve issues, providing technical support both in person and remotely.
• Evaluate software and hardware, recommending improvements or upgrades as necessary.
• A High School diploma or GED is required;
• An Associate’s degree in an IT technical field is preferred.
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in an IT environment / department OR an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered.
• Must possess strong attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills.
• Able to perform basic software troubleshooting in Windows 7, 8, and 10
• Able to perform basic hardware troubleshooting for desktop and laptop computers
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Able to install standard desktop hardware (monitors, docking station, printer, keyboard/mouse)
• Able to perform basic troubleshooting of printers, scanners, copiers and other peripherals
• Has basic understanding of computer imaging
• Basic understanding of VoIP phone systems is a plus, but not required
• Basic networking: TCP/IPv4, DHCP and DNS is a plus, but not required
• Basic knowledge of Active Directory is a plus, but not required
• Basic knowledge of Office 365 and Azure Active Directory is a plus, but not required
