Job Description

Reports to: Store Manager
 
Title: Shift Lead
Classification:  Non-exempt
                                                                                       
Position Description Summary:
As the Shift Lead, you are to provide leadership and management for co-workers during a given set of work hours.  Shift leaders support managers by supervising tasks, monitoring performance, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, and delegating work.  Shift leaders are expected to lead others by example by providing exemplary service themselves.  Shift Leaders act as the first line of defense for customer issues and employee disagreements.
 
Essential Functions of the Job:
1. Resolve customer issues and provide an excellent shopping environment by ensuring the interior, exterior and bathroom areas are kept clean.
2. Identify selling opportunities and ensure products are available for customer purchase by stocking inventory in accordance with prescribed plan.
3. Complete necessary steps and paperwork to receive all deliveries and ensure fuel and merchandise are available to customers.
4. Submit service tickets to resolve problems or issues affecting the store.
5. Complete all tasks necessary to prepare for opening or closing store including shift duties as required.
6. In the absence of management provide backup duties including but not limited to completing daily/monthly paperwork, assign duties to staff, resolve problems, review daily video, inventory ordering, product count and equipment maintenance.
7. Train new cashiers on daily duties.
8. Handle last minute absences
9. Communicate to management any issues regarding inventory or equipment
10. Be knowledgeable of all store procedures and processes.
11. Responsible for general cleaning duties, i.e., tidying the premises, sweeping and mopping the floor, emptying the trash can, cleaning restrooms and performing other cleaning duties.
12. Responsible for ensuring compliance with product dating, and in particular checking for out of date merchandise daily, and tagging specific merchandise with out of date codes, as well as items that need to be discarded.
13. While overtime is discouraged, this position may occasionally require overtime, which must be approved in advance by your supervisor.
14. Demonstrate good cash handling skills.
15. Be at work and on time for scheduled shift.

Basic Qualifications:
• High School Education or GED equivalent
• 2 + years retail experience required
• 1 year of convenience store experience preferred
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Willing to obtain certifications required by state regarding food service, alcohol and tobacco sales
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be willing to work varied shifts
• Must be able to perform repeated bending, standing, and reaching.  Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
