Job Description

We are seeking RESEARCH SCIENTISTS with a PhD in Chemistry, Polymers, or similar technical degree for specialty chemical manufacturers in the SOUTHEAST. (This position is in the Greenville/Spartanburg, SC area We are based in Columbia, SC with positions nationwide).
Hands-on position. The RESEARCH SCIENTISTS will work as a Bench Chemist involving reaction chemistries, polymers, specialty chemicals. Stage Gate Process.

*Will develop new product concepts including proprietary blends using both products and co-producer products. Will compile applications performance requirements specific to the various product lines. Utilize chemicals, chemical compounds and chemical processes to create new products and technologies. Work in a laboratory setting conducting tests. Tests involve mixing different chemicals or polymers together to discover the results and chemical properties.
*Will also utilize computerized databases that contain searchable lists of chemicals and chemical reactions; using those research results to brainstorm ideas for new products.
*Research potential raw material alternatives and possible substitute materials
*Plan and perform laboratory work to develop a database of properties and uses of all functional products of the corporation.
*Provide technical assistance to customers in cases involving product use.
*Support plant operations in process improvements and problem troubleshooting
*Participate in PSM certifications

REQUIRES:
PhD in Chemistry. Bench Chemist positions require 3+ years industrial experience.
