Job Description

Position Summary:
 
• This procedure describes the basic functions, reporting relationships, authority, and responsibilities of the Sr. Product Manager at S&P USA.
• The Job Description provides the performance criteria for the position. It also states the Job Requirements as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• The person occupying the position of Sr. Product Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating activities across all product lines. Activities include: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements; defining the product roadmap and vision for all new and existing product lines; and working closely with vendors, customers, product development, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing and Support Services to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
• Interface with customers to ascertain business goals and define successful solutions to their needs. Create deliverables which detail and justify future product needs based on market data, forecasting, current projects, and the current product offering (e.g. sales plans, project scope statements, competitive summaries, and etc.).
• Stay abreast of industry trends and new market opportunities, and then communicate those trends and market opportunities to the management team. This position must clearly explain what opportunities there are for S&P USA and must explain how industry trends will impact S&P USA. Reports must be data driven and include references to current market products and/or potential new products to be developed.
• Develop strategic alliances and partnerships to help enhance or increase brand product line sales.
• Develop and execute a strategy for the S&P USA Sales Product Selection tool and associated support activities using all methods possible to assure the software meets the needs of customers and S&P USA equally.
• Assist with design and layout of marketing material to include, but not limited to: product materials, literature, advertisements and training materials. The Marketing department will complete most of the work, but this position will provide enhancements and details to better sell the product.
• Assist Engineering and Manufacturing departments with new product development to include: product enhancements, lab data feedback and results, applications enhancements, quality and marketing designs.
• Coordinate and actively participate in the training needs of all representatives, application engineers, and Support Services representatives by educating and making presentations both internally and externally.
• Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving questions and concerns on all products.
• Work closely with Engineering to resolve issues or concerns.
• Evaluate the products, prices, literature, product selection tools and websites of our competition, and present the most applicable and useful data to the management team. This will include writing reports that explicitly state what opportunities exist for S&P USA. The reports must also include a plan for taking advantage of the opportunities, and this position will be responsible for supporting the projects.
• Serve as a companywide project manager on certain high profile projects, who will communicate between all of the departments on product releases, to make sure all departments are sticking to schedules and communicating regularly. This position will serve as a key member on product launches, because the role will shorten the time from concept to launch. Make detailed plans to accomplish goals. This will include organizing and leading update meetings on the selected projects.
• Work with Engineering and Marketing to decide what is needed on future website and software updates, and work to get the improvements implemented.
• Will require occasional travel.
• Actively participate on relevant AMCA and ASHRAE committees
• Observe all company policies and procedures.
• Must be able to work additional hours to support the organization’s needs.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Engineering and Safety.
 

Educational Requirements:
 
• Bachelor’s Degree in Management or Engineering from a four (4) year college or university; or at least twelve (12) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of ten (10) years of industry related, or similar industry, experience preferred.
• Proficiency in the Windows environment, including the Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
• Ability to read and interpret English documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
 

Mental Requirements:
 
• Ability to communicate in English (read, write and speak) is required as the overwhelming majority of customers, vendors, co-workers, and suppliers communicate in this language.
• Reasoning ability is required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form, as well as the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Mathematical abilities to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, as well as the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret several types of graphs.
 

Physical Requirements:
 
• The physical demands of the position are listed in accordance with the requirements of the ADA as:
Standing – up to one fourth of the time.
Walking – up to one fourth of the time.
Sitting – up to three fourths of the time.
Talking/Listening – up to three fourths of the time.
Use of hands – up to three fourths of the time.
Climb or Balance – up to one fourth of the time.
Stoop or Kneel – up to one fourth of the time.
Reach with arms – up to one fourth of the time.
• Body movements, lifting and exerting force – 25 pounds.
• The Senses necessary for the successful performance of this position are:
Hearing – the ability to communicate effectively.
Vision – the ability to record and prepare reports.
• The ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as eye protection, back protection, ear protection, etc. as necessary or required.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
 

Environmental Conditions:
 
The environmental conditions of the area in which the person shall perform his/her duties consist of ambient temperature variations, dust, fumes, and elevated noise levels found in a manufacturing environment in this geographical area.
